Who doesn’t love the Oscars! I’m not talking about the 3 hour ceremony of ‘Best Actor, Best Actress’ ego cuddling. No! I’m actually talking about the real event. The one where we see beautiful gowns gliding down a red carpet. Ah, it’s magical I tell ya. Simply magical.
When I was younger my mom used to let me stay up and watch all that glitters. I truly loved every moment of the red carpet show. And my feelings haven’t changed one bit. Obviously being the envious type that I am, I wanted to participate in the announcment of best dressed. So here are my unique categories along with who won.
BEST COLOUR THAT SUITED SKIN TONE
Oh this was a tough one for me. I was stuck amongst two…
If I’m being super honest I didn’t like either dresses. Partly due to accessories (see the green necklace!). But after much deliberation, the winner goes to….
Jessica Chastain. I mean her skin is amazing first of all. But her shade of red hair is beautiful and goes phenomenally well with the navy blue of the dress. I just loved all the colours.
BEST DRESSED MALE
Ok guys, if any man is able to pull off lilac and still look cool, is a definite keeper in my books.
So the award goes to…
This was not a tough one for me. And the award goes to…
These two are just way too cute. They’re also expecting their first child. She’s pregnant people! She just looks absolutely stunning.
BEST CURVES IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES
I loved how Oprah looked on the red carpet. Yaaas girl!
BEST BLACK DRESS
This black dress has a little bit of everything. Lace, check. Different tiers, check. Edgy, check. Dainty, check. Strong, check. Kelly Osbourne looked simply amazing.
BEST INTRICATE DETAIL
Not only does this dress look stunning against her skin, it was created using 6,000 pearls. If that’s not intricate detail, then I don’t know what is!
BEST SHOW STOPPER
Now, I think that if anyone else wore this, it would never work. I’m not keen on the gloves. But it’s Gaga and it’s expected. Her hair was simple. And in general, it really makes you do a double take. And that’s exactly what you want from a show stopper. Enough said!
BEST OVER ALL PACKAGE
This woman is just so put together. Every time I see her on a red carpet I nod in approval. To the point of almost fracturing my neck. Love this look from head to toe.
BEST UNDERSTATED DRESS THAT PACKS A PUNCH
This woman is just down right beautiful. It makes me sick how hot she is. Her dress is simple, yet packs quite a punch. I mean she could wear a garbage bag and still look amazing. Oh how I hate the way I look right about now….
BEST DRESSED EXPECTANT MOTHER GODDESS
Some of you may disagree, but I loved this dress. It’s girly graffiti at it’s best. Boho chic, with a twist. LOVE IT!
BEST STRAPLESS DRESS
In my eyes, Jennifer is like the woman you aspire to be. And since you can’t quite be like her, she’s the woman that you want to be best friends with. This dress was stunning. Simple, yet had details in all the right places which accentuated her banging body awesomely.
BEST BEAUTY GODDESS OF ALL TIME ON THE RED CARPET (the ultimate award in my books)
This woman does not ages for god sake! How is that humanly possible. I loved, loved, loved this shimmering ensemble. To me this was my favourite dress.
TO THE WOMAN WHO CAN DO NO WRONG
No matter what Meryl Streep does, I follow and agree blindly.
TO THE WOMAN WHO’S SMILE LIGHTS UP A ROOM
Is it me, or does this woman make you feel like becoming a humanitarian for all the world’s charities? I want to be her friend. I totally feel like she has all the secrets to the meaning of life. In this dress, she is just so elegant; but somehow seems so down to earth. Julianne, guurrl, you are awesome.
TO THE MOST LIKEABLE WOMAN
This style fits Anna Kendrick like a glove. However, I am not too keen on the colour. If it was any other award show I would have put it in a higher ranking. But somehow I don’t feel very pizazz-y when I see this. Sorry Anna! Love you though!
TO THE WOMAN WHO BROUGHT SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT
This dress, for me, is modern, yet subtle, but also has a little something more to offer. It’s great. And Naomi Watts pulls it off nicely.
TO THE WOMAN WHO IS SLIGHTLY MISUNDERSTOOD
Guys, I don’t really understand why people have such a huge problem with Gwyneth Paltrow. Yes, she says things at times where you would be like… ummm… no Gwyneth, no. But despite all your reservations I quite liked how she looked on the red carpet. The dress did what it was supposed to do. It hugged her figure in the right way. It showed a little skin in a classy way. And there was some detail. Oh and the pale pink colour suited her perfectly.
There were so many that I loved on the red carpet. But these were the ones that lingered on in my mind.
And so concludes my “Best Awards”.
