I hang my head down with embarrassment as I openly admit, I have an addiction to Holland & Barrett. Whenever I walk in there I feel like a greedy little kid in a candy store. I literally want to buy everything and when the penny sale is on, I pick up two of everything. I’m not sure if embarrassment is the correct word to use. After all I could be addicted to worse things. Instead I like to walk into Holland & Barrett and look at all the wonderful foods and supplements that they have on offer. Most days I pick up almond butter, dried cranberries, nuts and my fav, raw coconut oil. I use that for everything which I will tell you about in another post. Other days I will go in there to buy, Spirunlina (amaze-balls!) and raspberry Ketones (not quite sure about this one but I buy it nonetheless). And of course sometimes when my sweet monster rears it’s ugly head, I end up getting chocolate covered raisins for the days I want to be fat and comfy.
It was another day and more money was about to go down the drain as I stepped my eager foot into my local Holland & Barrett. I was just going in there to pick up a bottle of Spirulina when little pink stickers stopped me dead in my tracks. It was the penny sale! I’m sure for those who aren’t familiar with this magical sale you are probably thinking what the hell is this cow talking about. Well, the penny sale is when you buy one product and get the second for a penny. I mean, HELLO, that is the best deal in the whole entire universe. Now, if only stores could start doing that with clothes, shoes and jewellery. Ahhh, that would be heaven.
I finished grabbing all that I could and stood, waiting in line with my arms about to give way. And what do I see on the shelf before I’m about to check out? A cute box that said ‘Boo Tea‘. I should start by saying that I have seen the tea all over Instagram. Everyone and their mothers have been promoting it. And here it was, for the first time, in Holland & Barrett. To top it off it was buy one get the second one half off. I caved guys. I caved like a person who had been dieting for months and threw it all away to eat pancakes, a milkshake, a burger, chilli cheese fries and a whole blueberry pie all in one go.
When I went home I looked at my goodies and smiled. I was most excited to try the infamous Boo Tea. As I took it out of the bag I thought that the packaging was cute. Everything was clearly written on the back and in the shortest most concise way possible.
In the box was two packets (as you can see from the above photo) one was to be used for the day time and the other for night time. The day tea has Chinese Oolong tea, Mate′ leaves, Giner root, Fennel seeds, Lemongrass, Dandelion lead, Ginseng root, Gotu Kola leaves and Nettle leaves. Whereas the night time one has Senna leaves, Peppermint leaves, Fengugreek seeds, Liquorice root, Burdock root, Hawthorn leaves, Valerian root and Psyllium seeds. All that sounds healthy doesn’t it? Don’t ask me what each one does because I haven’t yet researched all of them and because I truly can’t be bothered to. I just know that all aid your internal workings to detox and flush toxins out of your system. While the night time one also acts as a laxative. Make sure to have it around 9pm because it takes 8 hours to take effect. I’m pretty sure you don’t want to be on your way to work and have the overwhelming sensation that you are about to shit your pants on the train. So I suggest taking it at a reasonable hour in the evening just in case the tea after effects hits you harder than most. At the end of the day, everyone is different. So while some may not see a huge difference, others may think they are about to internally explode.
Now, onto the taste. The day one tastes ok. It goes down quite well and there are no horrible after tastes to speak of. I actually quite enjoy the day one. The night one however, is another matter. Some may find it nice. But I do not and it most certainly does not go down well. I think it’s the Liquorice. I have never been a fan of that taste. Or maybe it’s all the tastes combined. It also give me a funny sensation, which I can’t quite pin-point.
Overall it’s not a bad tea. I have yet to feel the benefits from it, nor do I feel any major difference. But I will continue to take it and see if anything changes.
What I don’t understand is how all these people are raving about it. People on Instagram are going gaga over this tea and I can’t seem to figure out why. They either really love the taste and are seeing amazing benefits from it or they are getting paid to promote it. I am thinking that it’s the latter. Either way we will see how it goes. I am more curious as the days go by. Let’s hope my need to find the next best thing hasn’t been squandered. I’m starting to see my money go up in flames after trying so many products. I think I really need to try and wean myself off of all these products. The surest bet is to eat healthy and exercise. It’s that simple. Although maybe I might just try that snail cream and then I’ll stop… Yeah that’s when I’ll stop. Surely…
P.S.- Just out of curiosity has anyone else tried this Boo Tea? If so, what were your thoughts on it? And for those who haven’t tried it yet, would you? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
